We found the explanation why prnprint's output was cut off by 1/6 inch on the right side on a Lexmark Optra T612. It is because this printer's printable area is smaller.

prnprint correctly detects the printable area and starts printing at the leftmost position. But since the font size and number of characters per line is given by the document, prnprint cannot avoid that the right margin is cut off when the text of the document is too large.

I write a script printertest.py which helped us to find this explanation. It prints a test page on the Windows Default Printer:
