Tuesday, 12. April 2005 16:50.The performance problems (slow startup after upgrade) were indeed related to the method of exefication. The problem does not appear when using McMillan Installer.
Explanation: py2exe produces rather small exe files and a big file library.zip. McMillan doesn't use a separate library.zip and appearently stores the pyo modules into the individual exe files. So the py2exe executables need to access their library.zip during startup and the virus scanner slows down these accesses. This caused startup times of 10 to 40 seconds.
Current workaround is to use mcmillan version of TIM Tools. TODO: check whether py2exe can be told to use McMillan's packing scheme.
